误：He almost worked all day.

正：He worked almost all day.

析：almost 通常应放在被修饰语之前(如遇动词be, 情态动词, 助动 词等, 则可置于其后)。以上误句由于 almost 放在 worked 之 前, 其意为“差不多工作了(但实际上未工作)”, 不合原意。以 下一句也属同样错误：

我们当中几乎每一个人都读过这本书。

正：Almost every one of us read the book.

误：Every one of us almost read the book.

析：以上误句由于 almost 放在 read 之前, 其意为“差不多读了 (但实际上没有读)”, 不合原意。

远远不是你想像的那样容易。

误：It’s not almost so easy as you think.

正：It’s not nearly so easy as you think.

析：一方面, 英语习惯上不说 not almost, 另一方面, not nearly 是习语, 意为“远远不是”、“根本不像”等。又如：I can earny some money, but not nearly enough to live on.(我 可以赚些钱, 但远远不够生活)。

几乎没有人相信他说的话。

误：Nearly no believed what he said.

正：Almost no believed what he said.

析：no, none, nobody, nothing, never等词连用时, 通常要用 almost 不用 nearly。

大多数人都同意马上离开。

误：Almost of the people agreed to leave at once.

正：Most of the people agreed to leave at once.

析：almost 是副词(几乎, 差不多)，不要将其与 most(大多数)混淆。
